Waterloo and now Queen’s in Kingston have research on digestion using the ‘robogut’.
Many years ago, our study group was discussing intestinal bacteria. There was much about ‘candida overgrowth’, yeast-busting diets and herbal treatments. Yes, we had many discussions that could be labelled ‘gross’.
Someone found an Alberta article about ‘fecal transplants,’ from healthy individuals in the same family, which were to restore intestinal balance in the ailing person. Reports then were quite positive.
Investigations into this strategy are proceeding in many different places with additional positive results. Who knew!
Here is a link to one in Australia. https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2019/mar/25/i-thought-i-was-going-to-die-why-patients-are-no-longer-pooh-poohing-faecal-transplants
I have a question. Does anyone know which bacteria produce which vitamins for us? I am especially interested in B5 because of a colleague’s recent experience.
